Pets

17 pets hatch from eggs in Core Keeper. A Melee or Range pet fights beside you; a Buff pet makes you stronger. Every pet levels up to 10 and rolls 9 talents from its own pool.

How talents work

A new pet gets 9 talents. Each one is picked at random from that pet's pool, so the same talent can come up more than once.

A pet gets 1 talent point every 2 levels, so 5 points at level 10. Each talent takes 1 point.

Talents 1 to 3 are open from the start. Talents 4 to 6 open after 1 point is spent, talents 7 to 9 after 2.

Resetting the points costs 200 Ancient Coin. The talents stay; only the points come back.

The pet gains XP when you or the pet hit an enemy: the damage divided by 20, at least 1 and at most 250 per hit. Training dummies give none.

A Buff pet does not attack. Its talents work on you, which the game shows as "Buffs owner with:".
